12 Digital Photographs
This project began with a large group of snapshots, which were taken at my workplace while nobody was around. There were several hundred snapshots in total.
I subjected these snapshots to a process of trial and error. Each snapshot has been digitally overlaid with an object (or sometimes a grouping of objects) from another snapshot. I did not change the transposed object's relation to its original border; it sits in the exact same position within the frame. Beyond this cutting and pasting I did not I alter the original snapshots in any way. I selected twelve of the resultant images for presentation.
Most of the objects in these photographs have been haphazardly placed by my coworkers and/or myself. In this series of photographs, I have relocated these objects with equal carelessness.
I found that it was easier to digitally relocate the majority of these objects than it would have been to actually relocate them. Only a few instances defy this generalization; several of these objects are not actually very heavy, but their photographic outlines took a long time to trace in Photoshop. In those instances, it would have been less work to relocate the actual objects in physical space.
